Book Club: July

Hello Loves,

This was a good month for me to read! I don't know why but I got so many books read! (this is great for my 101 in 1001 haha!)

Bonjour Tristesse

one// Bonjour Tirstesse by Francoise Sagan
This one is short and sweet! A very quick and easy read. The chapters are nice and short and they keep making you want for more. As a typical classic the majority of the book builds up to a completely shocking ending. This one is perfect for summer because it transports you someplace new and exciting!

two// Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams
I do not even know how to begin explaining this novel. It is a very fun read! Its the funnier part of Science Fiction. Be prepared to read a lot of explanations on things that do not exist. It is a great workout of the imagination. If you want a light and funny book to read this is definitely the one for you!

three// The Glass Castle by Jeanette Walls
When I started reading this book I did not know what to expect and while reading it I realized that never in my wildest dreams would I have expected what was happening. This book has it all: triumph, loss, happiness, utter despair, and everything in between. You will experience all sorts of emotions and somehow still relate to what is happening to Jeannette. Honestly, while reading it many parts made me unhappy but as I reached the end I felt like I really learned something. It is written beautifully. A sad story wonderfully told.

four// Looking for Alaska by John Green
This is a great book. It puts your life in a different perspective and really makes you think about the world around you. Beautifully written, this powerful work brings you to a time you may not have ever experience yet somehow you have experienced it. It is so matter-of-factly written that it pulls all the right heart strings. Definitely a must read!!

Happy Reading

5 Easy Ways to Wake Up Happy

Hello Lovelies,

I always thought I was a morning person because I had no trouble waking up early, but I was never happy about waking up. I recently learned that being a morning person does not just mean being awake early but being happy about it too. I still do not fully understand how that is possible but I found some good ways to get you started and happier on early mornings.

one// wake up to sunshine
When you wake up to sun shining through your windows, your body is signaled to stop its flow of melatonin. Waking up to the sunshine works for me because it signals the start of a fresh, brand-new day. If you are like my sister that needs the room to be pitch dark to fall asleep invest in an eye mask so you can still feel the sunshine on your face in the mornings.

two// don't snooze
Our brains understand the snooze button so it will not let you fall back into a deep sleep. Therefore when you wake up again you will actually wake up more tired and groggy than before. So skip the snooze and get out of bed.

three// have a morning routine
Whether its to turn on music and dance around or stretch in an hour long yoga session - get a move on! The exercise will not only get your blood pumping but it'll also wake you up more. The endorphins from the movement will make you happier that you are awake. This is time just for you so enjoy it!

four// drink water
Drinking water when you get up is a great way to provide energy to your body by making up the fluids you lost while in your sleep. Since your body requires fluids, when it is dehydrated it has to work much harder, therefore this extra expenditure of energy will make you feel even more tired. Plus drinking water is just great for your body in general. AND it helps kick start your daily eight ounces.

five// power down before bed
TURN OFF ALL YOUR SCREENS! Research dedicates that between 30 minutes to an hour before bed you should turn off all your screens. TV, computer, iPads, iPhones, etc are stimulators that make it difficult for your brain to wind down. Read a book instead!

Happy Birthday Jackie Kennedy Onassis

Happy Birthday to the late, iconic Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis!

If Jackie lived today she would be 85 years old, and still mystical as ever. This First Lady brought with her a unique and classic sense of style that inspires us to this day. I may have been born after she already passed away but she will forever mold and inspire my generation and the generations to come. With an effortless sense of style and beautiful, iconic look Jackie will forever remain one of the most influential people in the fashion world.

Happy Birthday Mrs. Kennedy

Scented Nail Polish......

Hello lovelies,

Over the weekend my mom, sisters, and I went shopping. I was in dire need of new nail polish so I made a quick stop to get some nail polish. After roaming the aisle I stopped by Revlon and grabbed some pretty colorful colors!

I figured since I'm in class all day I wanted a color that would make the dreary days more fun. I ended up getting two fun pinkish colors. What I did not know about the nail polish was that it was SCENTED!!!!!! the name of the nail polish is actually the scent they have.

So what do you think? Scented or not?

Hello Yogis,

So part of my 101 in 1001 challenge I wanted to wake up early and practice yoga every morning.

I don't have the time, energy, or money to go to a yoga studio every morning so I had to find the next best alternative! I found this amazing website: DoYogaWithMe.Com and I'm just so happy with it!

Obviously I am a beginner in yoga and they have an entire beginner's corner with free videos to follow along. The teachers are fantastic! You can choose the length, level, and type of yoga you want to do. My favorite video so far has been "Love yourself yoga" with Nicky Jones.

I've recently started doing the "Bend and Stretch". It really is helping me stretch more and it makes me feel better and much more awake and invigorated for my day ahead.

I really have enjoyed doing yoga this early and I have until August 4th to make it a full month!!!

Birthday Week in Review

Hello lovelies,

Last week was my birthday week!! I had such a great week from Friday to this Sunday!

Friday July 4th,
I went to IKEA for the first time ever to help my sister dorm shop. It was an amazing place!! Of course we had meatballs and my mom bought us chocolate which was absolutely delicious. Then I convinced my mom to take us to Kate Spade nearby because they were having a great sale! Which lead to a lot of early birthday shopping. Then we watched the World Cup and fireworks at night!!

July 5th & 6th,
Both days were pretty uneventful. Just hung out at home and studied for a physics exam.

Monday July 7th,
Kicked off my official birthday week with a physics exam!!!! It actually went pretty well. And I got texts from friends wishing me a happy birthday week, they know me so well!

Tuesday July 8th,
Highlight of my day was Brasil losing 7-1 to Germany! As an Argentine  we are sworn soccer enemies.

Wednesday July 9th,
This was one of the best days ever!!! It was El Día de la Patria in Argentina AND we beat Holland in the semi-finals to advance to the finals for the first time in over 20 years. My sisters also got my an Argentine jersey to wear for good luck! It was great!! I went to the store after the game while still wearing it, and I got so many compliments and congratulations I felt as if I had played.

Thursday July 10th
MY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was a pretty uneventful! I had cake for breakfast. It was my Abuela's recipe and I have it every year. I opened birthday presents then took my sisters out to lunch. We had chipotle it was magnificent. Then we went shopping for a while. For dinner I had milanesas and mashed potatoes!!!! My favorites.

Friday July 11th,
I had class which was absolutely miserable but I played dots and tic-tac-toe over snapchat with a friend which was a fun way to pass a dull class.

I've had the greatest day today. My Big got back into town just in time for my birthday! So did my best friend so they came over to celebrate. A bunch of us went for dinner. It was a lot of fun and I'm so glad that I actually had a party on my birthday with friends from school. Its so rare for people to be here in the middle of the summer!
My best friend slept over and we skyped her little most of the night. It was great fun!

Saturday July 12th,
My best friend stayed all day and we hung out and talked. I hadn't seen her in two months!! We had so much to catch up on! And of course we watched Brasil lose again!

Sunday July 13th,
This was my cousin's birthday and of course the big final game of Argentina vs Germany! I went out to a pub in my Argentine jersey hoping to clench a win. I went with my sister, my Big, and some other friends. We were unfortunate to have lost (still don't want to talk about it). Then I finished my physics homework and called it a night and an end to all the birthday festivities.

Best Birthday EVER!!!!

30 Is Not the New 20

Hello Loves,

As part of my 101 in 1001, I want to watch 10 TED talks. But not just any talks, talks that will really inspire or teach me something new. Recently I watched a talk called "Why 30 is not the new 20" By Meg Jay. Which got me thinking, now that I'm 20 and all. How am I going to define my new decade?

She gave some incredibly valid points about making the most of your new decade weather 20, 25, or even 29. How do you make sure these critical years do not go to waste. This is a time to decide who you want to be for the rest of your life. You are building the blocks to your future. Now does this sound as scary to you as it did to me???

I think if we take it one day at a time with clear goals in mind (or written down) it will be much easier to handle!

Roaring 20's or not?

World Cup!

Hello Fellow Futbol Fanatics,

So today is the last semi final games and Argentina is playing!! I hope you are all cheering for Argentina. Fingers crossed that this won't be a Brazilian repeat! I need Argentina to win this World Cup!

Sadly I still don't have an Argentinean Jersey so I will be going out to buy one for the game tomorrow. I know, I know; shameful!

Birthday Week!!!

Hello Loves!!

So later this week I turn 20!!! Can you believe it? I sure can't!! Anyway I LOOOOVEEEE birthdays so much. I usually celebrate all week then again later around August since most of my friends are out of town and that's when they get back. I worked at camp and there was a bunch of us that had birthdays within the same week so it was always a great big celebration. But my friends were never around. This is the first year that I have a lot of friends in town!!! So we are all going to dinner on Friday night and possibly the beach on Saturday (fingers crossed for good weather).

Sadly today  had an exam but I came home to brownies so it all evens out! Can't wait to see what this week has in store for me!
Birthday Kisses

I hope you all have a Happy Fourth of July! We always do the same thing (as long as it does not rain of course) we go to a local golf course, have a picnic corn on the cob and BBQ pulled pork, watch the fireworks, then eat ice cream at Cold Stones.  Every year the same tradition and I absolutely love it! The golf course gets packed with people. Its fun to people watch or join strangers to play Frisbee!

Of course this always means many Fourth of July goodies! Here are some of my favorites from Pinterest:
