What to Wear During Recruitment {Sorority Rush Style}

Hello Loves,

So Recruitment or Fall Rush as many people call it is right around the corner! Just last year I was going through rush myself and this past spring I was able to recruit on the other side! I was fortunate enough to get a bid for the amazing Chi Omega. I understand how stressful it is to pick out outfits (I'm helping my sister with that now). As stressful and crazy as the whole process is it is so rewarding and fun. It sucks to have to make a good impression and have interesting conversations in 15 mins with so many different women but it will pay off. So here are some ideas for your outfits!!

Round 1: Ice Water and Sweet Tea
This is the most relaxed of all the days. You will want to dress more or less casual but still nice. Think sundress/picnic type clothes. This is your first time making an impression so you want it to be a good one! Keep in mind you will be visiting ALL houses this night so you want to be comfortable and cute. You really want comfortable shoes but stay away from flip flops-they are just not dressy enough. Another thing to keep in mind is that it will probably be very HOT outside. You want to get clothes that will not be showing your sweat. A pair of bright, trendy shorts paired with a nice blouse is a good option for round one. This outfit will keep you cool but is still classy and cute!

Round 2: Philanthropy Day
This day you will cut a couple of houses but you will still be doing a lot of walking around. Here you will learn about the philanthropy each sorority supports. This night is slightly more formal than the previous day but you still want to be cool, cute, and classy. Keep in mind that this is your second first impression.

Round 3: Skit Night
During this round, each house puts on a skit to showcase their personalities. You spend more time getting to know the girls. My suggestion would be to wear a nice dress like a tea party. Something comfortable and cool but still stylish and cute. You will be doing a lot of walking so bring a change of shoes, in the house I would suggest wedges or flats. The outfit for today should be bright and fun yet fit into a tea party type of situation.

Round 4: Preference Night
Pref Night is definitely the best round of rush- and its the last one! At this point you will have narrowed it down to a few houses. If you are at a house on Pref Night it is because they can see you as a sister!! It is a very special night because you will take part in a ceremony at each house. It will allow you to connect with the chapters and help you determine which sorority would be your best home. This is the most formal night. You will want to wear something that will fit into a summer wedding. You want to wear heels and a formal dress. Try to pick a dress and accessory that will show off your personality!

My advice on what NOT to wear: anything too short, too tight, or too revealing. You want to send a positive message and put your best foot forward. If you would wear the outfit to a nightclub, then do NOT wear it to rush.

The best advice I can give is to be yourself and keep an open mind. Being yourself also includes how you dress. Whatever you wear make sure that it expresses your personal style. Do not wear something that you think the sorority wants you to wear, wear something that showcases you. It is not fair to them or yourself to act like someone you are not. You want to end up in a house where you truly fit in.

You DO NOT have to spend a lot of money to do well in sorority rush. Just take the outfits as inspirations and the find outfits that make you look good and fit your budget.

Then you get to have your amazing Bid Day!!
