Keystone Habits

Hello Friends!

Keystone Habits are the most important habits in our lives. In fact, they influence all of our other habits. They are the habits that produce a number of positive outcomes in our lives. They affect how we live, work, spend time.

Keystone habits are essentially your main (biggest) habits. They affect a number of other different habits and areas of your life. It is when a main goal such as exercising more has other, unintentional, positive traits. Keystone habit are important for many reasons. One of the biggest reasons is that they create a positive domino effect. You develop a positive habit and pretty soon you'll notice many other positive changes like a chain reaction.

Here are some forms of important Keystone Habits to keep in mind as we move into the new year and we all start setting new goals and expectations.

1. Regularly Setting Goals

So many successful people say setting goals is one of the biggest things you can do to set yourself up for success. It's one of the main habits that separates successful people from unsuccessful people. One of the important parts of setting successful goals is writing them down. Make a list of your long-term goals, of everything you want to accomplish no matter how big or how small. Then break them each down into smaller more manageable goals. Then turn them into weekly, monthly, yearly goals.

2. Making Your Bed

Everyone thinks this one is pointless! And how can making your bed improve your life anyway? Besides, it's just going to get messed up again anyway. Making your bed is actually linked to increased productivity, feeling more well-rested, and a better overall sense of wellbeing.

3. Having a Daily Routine

There are many benefits to having a daily routine. Daily routines are shown to save time because they remove the need to deliberate and spend time making decisions. You already know what you have to do and you get it done! Your daily routine will become a habit and you won't even need to think about getting things done anymore. You won't need motivation because you'll just do the things you're supposed to do.

4. Practicing Daily Gratitude

So many of us complain about things we want all the time, but sometimes we forget to appreciate everything we already have. There are so many people in this world who are suffering. No matter how bad you think you have it, I'm sure there's someone out there who is wishing for your life. Sometimes it's hard to see what we have when we're so focused on what we want. When our mind focuses on abundance, more abundance tends to come into our lives. Practicing gratitude is alo show to improve self-esteem. Take a few minutes out of your day to write down everything that you are grateful for in your life.

What are some more keystone habits?

Last Minute New Years Eve Outfits

Hello Friends!

New Years is right around the corner! I cannot believe how fast this year went by and how much is in store for next year. What do you guys typically do for New Years? I feel like it's always made out to be this super cool, party night. Typically my family goes to a my dad's office party. Its alright, but there is free alcohol. This year my family is coming to visit us so we have to create other plans. It will probably something low key like fireworks at home and watching the ball drop.

Holiday Outfit | CGH Lifestyle

Even though I'm not going out I find it so fun to dress up anyway. I found some cute outfits and sequin-y things. When in doubt, I don't think you can go wrong with a simple little black dress, but I like the idea of dressing up with great pants, especially if you're somewhere colder!

What are you doing for New Years?

How To Make 2017 Your Best Year Yet

Hello Loves,

Did you set a ton of resolutions at the beginning of 2016, only to find that another year flew by without achieving your goals? It happens to all of us! Our resolutions slip through the cracks and we give up when we lose motivation. And you know what? Its okay. We can be hard on ourselves sometimes.

Here is how I am planning to make the new year count:

Have Financial Goals

If you haven't already made financial goals this year, now is the time to start. There is so much you can do to improve your finances this year. You can start a budget, pay off debt, and start saving for an emergency. Decide what your goals are and go for it!

Find a way to Progress at Work

Ever wonder how people work the same job for years and years and never move up? Those people never pushed themselves at a young age. They never did more than what was asked and they never took advantage of the opportunity in front of them.

We all know those people! I do not want to be one of them!
Being stagnant at work is a dangerous place to be. You lose motivation to get anything done and you lose passion for the job. Your boss will notice. Find a way to keep your career moving forward, whether it means asking for more responsibility at your current job, going for a promotion, taking advantage of educational and training opportunities, or looking for a new job.

The people at work who you admire are constantly learning and keeping their skills fresh. They refuse to become stagnant and content. Keep pushing yourself. Find opportunity, even if it doesn't look like there is any.

Start Making Money on the Side

Making money on the side is an excellent way to help you achieve both your financial goals and your professional goals. Think about what you would do with an extra $500 a month. You could pay off an extra $6,000 in debt in 2017 with that! You could build a $6,000 savings account, or travel the world.

Making extra money every month is not difficult. You could get a second job, start a blog, build a freelance writing career from home, dog sit, nanny, or shovel snow. The possibilities are endless!

Workout

Working out is the WORST! It isn't fun, we never have time, its a hassle, and we are tired. After every excuse in the book, it is so worth it. If you're like me, you might find yourself sitting all day long. When I don't workout, I feel terrible and weak. My energy is at a low point and I feel terrible.

No matter how busy you are, make time for working out and eating healthy. It pays off. You'll have more energy throughout the day as well as have a better attention span.

Make Time for Your Hobbies

Making a full-time job and a side hustle can be stressful. No matter where you are in life, it's important to make time for your hobbies and spend time doing what you truly enjoy! If it makes you feel at peace, it is worth it. By spending time on your hobbies, you'll be able to focus more on your professional and business life.

Wake up Earlier

You have all these big goals, but often you find that you don't have time to do them all. Especially those personal goals. Waking up is exactly how to accomplish all your goals. Think about all the early risers you know. Would you consider them mostly to be very productive people?

Get Involved in Your Community

You'll be surprised how much you gain from further involvement! Not only will you benefit those in your community, but you'll gain professional skills and have a ton of opportunity to network.

What are your resolutions?

Happy Christmas

Hello Loves,

Happy Christmas!

Santa came and was very generous with my family this year. After a wonderful Noche Buena dinner and midnight mass we went to sleep ready for Christmas. Early in the morning, I woke up to two kitties in my bed then off to presents.

I made some hot chocolate and off to the present opening we went.  My sister passed out the presents as per tradition and before we knew it there was wrapping paper everywhere. We tried to put them all in a pile but the cats had other ideas.

The cats loved opening presents more than anything else! Ollie particularly loved the paper. My dad ended up balling up the paper and throwing it around for Ollie to play. Naturally they got presents as well then proceeded to sleep the rest of the day. Lasers are exhausting.

After presents were over and the Christmas picture was taken, we started a new tradition of Christmas brunch! This one will have to stick it was absolutely amazing!

Merry Christmas

Gifts For Him

Hello Friends!

The hardest people for me to shop for is guys!! When asked what they would like, they never say anything. Which really only makes the process more difficult. I also feel like they get the short end of the stick because of that. I am not very experienced in guy gift shopping. But I like to shop and I have been pretty successful in the past. So I asked the guys in my life and here are some of the things we came up with.

There are many other things you can get your guy! If he likes sports go for something sports related *just make sure to get the right team. If not there is always some cozy sweaters and fuzzy socks. If he has a pet you can get stuff for his pet. You can do it!

What are you getting your guys?

Red Wine Hot Chocolate

Hello Loves!

Happy Winter! We finally reached that time of the year. Warm, cozy hot chocolate. Cuddling up. Watching a good movie. Now I don't know about you but we already eat chocolate with red wine, might as well put the red wine in the chocolate! It was so delicious when my friend and I made it, so I decided to share with you all.

This is a great recipe for winter. It is super thick and chocolatey. My friends and I added a little extra chocolate and wine so that we could get some more thickness. If you don't want it as chocolatey and thick add some extra milk as well, or leave the recipe as is.

Ingredients:
- 6 oz bittersweet chocolate
- 1/3 cup fruity wine, such as Pinot Noir, Shiraz (we used Merlot)
- 1 cup of milk
- pinch of salt
- sugar, for serving

Instructions:
Bring the chocolate and wine to a simmer in a quart saucepan over a low heat; whisking until melted about 3 minutes. Add 2/3 cup milk and salt then bring to a boil while whisking for about three more minutes. Top off with the rest of the milk and pour out into two mugs.

Instead of adding the sugar for serving we added some marshmallows. I love hot chocolate and marshmallows! I will definitely be making this again and probably be trying some new fun hot chocolate recipes for winter!

Will you be trying it?

Christmas Tree

Hello All,

Well it is finally that time of year!!! It is the Holiday season. I can finally listen to Christmas music on repeat, drink hot chocolate, and decorate the entire house in Christmas decorations. I finally set up the tree and my sister helped me decorate it. We had such a fun time.

Sammy, also, helped me set up the tree and he also enjoys attacking it. He sneaks up behind the curtain and then attacks the branches. He then runs away! One day he will show the tree who's the boss. I already wrapped his Christmas present.

Most of our ornaments are homemade. We make ornaments every year. Last year I made an M&M the year before I made Mike Wazowski. My sisters made Santa, a Christmas Light, and a snow globe. I think we are getting more creative as we get older..... or lazier hahaha.

Look we found a kitty ornament! Naturally it is front and center. Now the Tree is completely done and my dad put the angel on the top. We are ready for Christmas! We even have some presents under the tree.

Did you already set up your tree?

Gifts For Her

Hello Friends,

Well it is the time of year again!! Its time for shopping and finding the right presents for all the people on your list! I love trying to get the right presents for everyone, seeing their faces light up, its really my favorite part about the Holiday Season. For starters I'm working on the Ladies gifts. I typically find these gift guides easier even though there are many different types of gifts for ladies. Think about what shes like: bossy girl, homebody, cat lady *me, yogi, etc and try to match to her interests.

I tried to pick a good variety of things for all the different ladies in our lives. Remember think about her when shopping. Even if she's the girl that has everything you can't go wrong with fuzzy socks.

What's on your wish list?
